Steal Her Style #2

emma watson, striped pants, harem, leather sandals, navy blazer, raybans, plain white tee, tshirt, outfit, inspiration

Emma Watson is without a doubt one the most liked celebrities in Hollywood. Her sweet personality makes all that she does instantly likable. She is also seen as fashion icon for many. Her mix of English prep and California cool is perfect for any summer outfit. I especially like this outfit she is seen in above because she looks so chic but considering she is pictured here in an airport, we can assume she chose a comfy outfit. This outfit is perfect for a casual summer day whether you are just relaxing or going out in the afternoon.

1. Aqua Blazer {Bloomingdales}
2. Gap Essential Short Sleeve U Neck T {Gap}
3. Maison Scotch Striped Cropped Trouser {Farfetch}
4. Leather Flat Sandals {ASOS}
5. Ray Ban Wayfayer Sunglasses {Farfetch}

What is your favorite part of this outfit and Emma's style? I really love these types of leather sandals that have come into style lately. I definitely will be getting a pair soon! I hope you all are having an amazing summer. Leave comments for another celebrity whose style you love and I will re-create their look!

Back to School: Backpack Essentials

As I prepare to head off to my first year of college, I have done what probably would seem to be an ridiculous amount of research on what I will need to bring with me. Most importantly, I wanted to know what all the essentials to have in your backpack include. Here are the items I plan to carry with me at all times and that I found to be most important!

Let's start off with the bag. This adorable backpack show above is from, none other than, Target! They've had some really cute backpacks for the back to school season and when I saw this one I couldn't pass it up. I also have another plain black backpack that is a bit more heavy duty than this one, but I hope to use this cute patterned bag as much as I can without it clashing with any of my outfits!

School supplies is obviously a necessity. My favorite items are Five Star notebooks and folders. I also carry with me a variety of pens and pencils to take notes and study with. Highlighters are also important study aids that can help to liven up your notes. One thing I never thought of until doing a bit of looking into what school supplies to bring was a mini stapler. When you have something to turn in during a college class, your professor with most likely not pass the one class stapler around the desk like I experienced in high school. Having your own mini stapler can be a life saver in case you had to print something out last minute and totally forgot to staple it before throwing it in your bag.

Nail Tutorial (on YouTube!)

Hey guys! I was playing around with some stuff today and I decided to make a nail tutorial and upload it on YouTube. I really like making videos and it was really fun to put this one together. I thought that it also would be easier for you guys to follow along to, more so than a few pictures. Please comment, like and subscribe if you like the video and want to see more! And remember to watch in HD for best quality!

These nails were inspired by an Instagram post I saw on Chi Nail Bar's page and I tried to re-create the look. Obviously they are not nearly as professional as the real thing, but I tried to make it simple to follow along to and also use the things that I had. I hope you all enjoy it and try it out!

Spring/Summer Swim Trends 2013

swimsuit, trends, tankini, corset, fringe, bathing suit, summer, spring, fashion, beauty
Spring is out first taste of sumer and the warmer weather means beach days and poolside parties. This year, these swimwear trends are all the rage. Each different trend comes in a variety of colors and patterns so everyone is sure to find one they will like. Let me know what swimwear trends you'll be rocking this season in the comments!

1. Tankini: The term tankini has been re-newed this year to these adorable flowy tops. These are great for a sporty girl who wants to look a little more girly while running around in the sand. They are super comfortable and seem like a extra cute sports bra. This style is flattering on almost everyone and is very versatile.

2. Corset: If you are looking for a little more coverage or support, a corseted top is your best bet. Depending on if your chest size, the underwire can amp up your cleavage or just keep everything in place and help accentuate your curves. These totally make me think of adorable retro styles and all the cute floral patterns I have seen make them even better.

3. Fringe: If you are a true fashionista who doesn't want to give up their style for a swim, fringe bikinis are very unique and eye catching pieces. If you are small chested and want to feel more confident, he detailing along this suit draws attention to the chest in a good way and can disguise your size, similarly to ruffled tops. I love all of the neon colors the fringe style comes in and any one of those would look great on newly tanned skin.

Hope everyone had or is having a great spring break! Let me know what other kind of posts you would like to see  and I will try to work on those as soon as I can.

New Year's Eve Outfit

As the month of December draws to a close, we all know what is awaiting us, welcoming us into the new year. New Year's Eve! And with that year long awaited night comes parties and get togethers to bring in 2013. When thinking about the night, most probably associate it with a glitter drenched outfit, and I am not one to turn this opportunity down. I put together this cute look to give you some inspiration when deciding what to wear on NYE.

I chose to make the focus these adorable gold glitter shorts. There are tons of cute statement shorts at stores like H&M and Forever 21 so you won't have to splurge on one night's outfit and you can also chose from a large variety to find your favorite metallic shade.

I have also been loving gold and mint recently, which explains this combination. I wanted to add a jacket to have some layers in the look and when I saw this mint one I thought it'd be so cute. You can totally play with your accent color depending on your taste and the other pieces in your outfit. I also tied the mint color back in with a cute geometric necklace.

For accessories, I added black tights and gold pumps which I feel might be a little tacky but, hey it's New Year's right?! I love this envelope clutch with the tassels and it'll be perfect to hold all your essentials. To add even more glamour, pop on a couple gold bangles and you'll be set.

I kept the makeup pretty simple with just a shimmery bronzed gold eyeshadow that would look great with other complementary neutral/smokey shades. Some smudged eyeliner is also always a good go to tactic. These Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are perfect because they aren't heavy at all and are nice and moisterizing. The color will also wear on into the night and you'll have nice smooth lips when it comes time for your new year's kiss.

I hope you guys enjoyed this little outfit idea, share with me what you'll be wearing on New Year's in the comments. Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Whether you celebrate Turkey Day pretty low-key or your family goes all out, there are tons of fall themed outfits to choose from. Above I put together some ideas on every end of the spectrum. Let me know which one is your favorite or how you normally dress to celebrate. And if you do not live in the United States, take this as just some more fall/winter inspiration!

Casual

If you are not looking to go over the top for Thanksgiving and simple and comfy outfit like this one is perfect. A comfy sweater layered over a nice blouse will make you look nicely put together without much effort. For more inspiration for layering sweaters and tops check out my other post HERE. I paired the top portion with some simple skinny jeans. For the finishing touches, I added a cute pair of leopard flats and a gold watch.

Middle Ground

If you are a fashionista who doesn't want to sacrifice your style for little get together this look will give you the best of both worlds. Even a basic top can become a little more glamourous with a more visual fabric such as chiffon or with leather details. I chose this flowy button up because it has a nice tailored look but doesn't over power the awesome metallic pants I added on the bottom. For accessories, a pair of heeled ankle booties will do the trick and geometric earrings add instant fabulous-ness!

Fancy

When I see velvet, I think sophistication. This adorable maroon dress is perfect for a more dressy party you may be attending. I added sheer black tights because I feel like that makes it a bit more fall/winter appropriate. The black pumps with gold detail on the toe are super cute and a matching tone headband adds a little girly touch that ties the look together. I picked out a delicate bow necklace to dress up the neckline a little bit more.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving or just a great week! Let me know any other posts you'd like to see as well in the comments below.

Color Love: Burgundy

For the fall time, I am obsessed with the darker versions of some of my favorite bright summer shades. One of those is a vampy, burgundy maroon color! Using this hue in different ways is super in for the upcoming season and can add a fun bit of drama. I love incorporating it into my accessories but you can also make it a statement by choosing a cute flowy skirt or a bold top. Another way I love to wear burgundy is with my makeup! I love it as a nail color because it is really dark but not as intense as black. I also think a maroon lip or cheek would be super pretty on a color autumn day. What are your favorite ways to wear burgundy and do you have a favorite color for this season? Hope you all are enjoying this last bit of summer.

Back to School: First Day Dilemma

Everyone always stresses out over what to wear their first day back to school. Today I have two options that you can mix and match between according to your personal style that incorporate and simple and basic piece. This comfy white tee seen in the middle of the picture is an awesome layering piece and is super stylish. It incorporates three trends in one: tribal, neon, and ombre! This is such an easy top to throw on and can be paired many ways.

Outfit No. 1

A chambray shirt should be a staple in every girls closet, especially for back to school. The button up denim shirt can be paired alone or layered over a cute top like this one. I am not a big advocate of denim-on-denim so I recommend going with a black jean, you could also switch this up for a skirt or shorts. I love the addition of a cheetah print belt, it adds a really fun, patterned touch! I kept the shoes neutral with tan flats but I also think a similar shade sandal would be really cute. This oversized and color blocked tote is perfect to carry all your school necessities in and incorporates some of the colors from the rest of the look. Overall, this outfit is super versatile and you can switch little things up to make it your own which I love about it!

Outfit No. 2

I used the same bright top and kind of darkened the look up a bit. I added grey distressed short which instantly add a cool grungy vibe. I layered an oatmeal colored, oversized cardigan for a more casual touch. To play up the edgyness in the outfit I added lace up boots and a motorcycle inspired purse. Be sure you appropriately pair your shorts and boots together, your shorts can't be too short and your boots can't be too tall. For jewelry I played back in the bright color from the top with some fun bangle bracelets. I also added some little stud earrings to finish off the look.

Which look is your favorite or how would you go about combining the two? Let me know what you are going to wear your first day back in the classroom! Hope you all are having a fun last few days of summer!

Steal Her Style #1

As summer comes to end and fall makes its way in, our light and airy clothes may get pushed to the back of our closets. This look is a perfect way to transition your summery clothes into a bit chillier weather. In this series I will be taking a celebrity look and finding similar items that are much more affordable so everyone can recreate their awesome style.

I love this look by Jennifer Lawrence because it is super carefree and comfy yet that slit in the maxi adds some drama. Keep in mind that the colors and styles aren't always the same but I try to match them as close as I can while still staying rather affordable. If there is a certain celebrity or picture you'd like me to recreate either comment the link down below or email me!

1. Soprano Milla Ruffle Maxi Dress {Nordstroms}
2. Buckled Flap Crossbody {Forever 21}
3. Women's New Classic Flip Flops {Old Navy}
4. Retro Knitted Grey Cardigan {ROMWE}
5. Jessica Sunglasses {American Apparel}

What was your favorite part of this look? Also let me know of any other celebrities you'd like to see, or if you can find a closer match to Jennifer's outfit comment it down below!

Back to School Style: The Perfect Book Bag

My favorite and most stressful part of going back to school is buying a new bag. I always try to find my favorite and basically scour the entire internet for it. Depending on the type of school you go to and your needs, it will probably determine the bag that will suit you the best. For some people a backpack is the the best choice however, in my case I use just a normal purse. Here are some of my favorite options for going back to school in style.

Traditional Backpack with a Stylish Spin

There are so many cute alternatives to your standard Jansport backpack. I love all the floral prints and designs I've seen on these bags. I also just prefer to look of backpacks of these style, they are just a bit nicer looking than a standard zip up. You can choose between fun materials like denim, canvas or leather to match your style. Backpacks are also great if you need to be hands free, because most of the time you can fit a binder or book inside of them. The two straps also will not strain your back as much as a normal purse would.

Crossbody Hottie

If you can carry your books and binders between classes and don't really need to bring much else with you, a small to medium sized shoulder bag is a great pick. Something like a messenger bag is a perfect size to keep things such as writing utensils and other supplies you may need. If you are someone who likes to stick to the essentials a smaller bag may work best for you. I also find that they don't get as unorganized as my larger bags because everything inside it will have a place. These also work super well for transitioning from school to going out with your friends to events like football games or to grab some food. You can just toss in your wallet and some lipgloss and you'll be set!

Tote-ally Perfect

If you want the best of both worlds, opt for a stylish tote or shoulder bag. You will have the size and space of a back pack with the look of a purse. Large purses can work awesome if you need to bring some snacks or a small book that you don't want to carry. And you won't have to sacrifice space because of the larger size! I love bags with outer pockets so I can have a few things in easy reach especially when I have a larger sized bag. I don't want to be digging around through the whole thing just to find a pen or pencil! Larger sized bags come in all different shapes and materials so you definitely can find one that'll fit your style.

Make sure you choose a bag that will work best for not just your style but also your schooling. Figure out what will be most practical for you and with all the many options out there you are sure to find one you'll love. If you are interested in a particular bag in the picture above check out My Polyvore for links to where you can buy these certain bags. Let me know your favorite way to carry your school supplies around campus in the comments!

iPhone Fashions

These days, it seems like iPhone are the new breed of purse puppies. We carry them everywhere and they seem to never leave our sight. Because of that, you shouldn't let your iPhone (or any phone for that matter!) be a sight for sore eyes. Doesn't all its hard work deserve it a fashionable look?  It is like adding a fun touch to your outfit, think of it as an extra accessory! You can mix and match your favorite prints, colors, and images to go along with you style for the day. I love looking for new phone cases and taking those few extra seconds to snap on a different case before you leave the house may just brighten your day!

Some of my favorite places to find iPhone cases are stores on Etsy. There are tons and tons of awesome and unique cases to fit anyones personality. You can basically just search your interests and you'll find many variations of your favortie things.

I also love to look through the cases on Nordstroms website. They have a super great selection of designer cases from Marc by Marc Jacobs to Tory Burch to Rebecca Minkoff. I am particularly fond of the Kate Spade cases! They may be a little bit pricier than other cases out there but definitely cheaper if you are looking to own a little bit of a name brand.

You can also find things to make your own case with like rhinestones, studs, spikes, and gems. You can also have a custom case made with your favorite picture on it. The possibilities are endless and the Google search bar awaits you! Hope you find the case of your dreams, let me know you favorite way to accessorize your cellular device in the comments below.

xx Meghan

P.S. While we are on the subject of iPhones, be sure to check out my instagram @scarvesandrockets! You'll get fun looks at some of the things I do that don't make it on the blog. I post pictures of stuff like my clothes, jewlery, and fun projects I am working on. I also have my Instagram linked to my Twitter so you can get updates there of when I post new pics as well. Happy social networking!

Little Wishes

1. Pyramid Bracelets: I have suddenly become obsessed with these little treasures for stacking and dressing up my arm parties. As seen in this gorgeous picture, the gorgeous white and gold bracelet on the left adds a playful but classy look to the mix. Forever 21 has a great selection of on-trend bracelets and for such a low price I am dying to get over to the mall so I can stock up!

2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains: I am a sucker for cute packaging and colors so when I saw these I was in for it. For such a long time now I have loved the concept of the Clinique Chubby Stick but I never got around to purchasing one. So when these came out I couldn't wait to  try out a cheaper alternative. Again, the packaging is super cute and great for quick pops of color throughout the day. I wanted my first one to be one that would be great as a daily staple so I got the shade Honey (third over from the left in the picture). I really like it and now I want to get some more.

3. Rhinestone Chain: I found myself wanting to be very crafty lately. I am always frustrated though because I never have all the supplies I need. My goal within the next few weeks is to track down some rhinestone chain. I scavenged through the entire jewelry section of my Michael's for some and it was nowhere to be found. I am thinking about just ordering some cheap of eBay unless someone can locate this little guy in my craft store for me. I want to do some cool DIYs and what project doesn't need a little sparkle!

These are just a few things I have been lusting over this week. Was there something you guys couldn't get off your mind? And, honestly, if someone finds me some rhinestone chain I will love you forever!! Anyways, hope your weekend is off the a great start. Don't forget to check out my last post which was a super cool DIY for Floral Sunglasses!

DIY: Floral Sunglasses

While looking through the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere I stumbled upon {this} image of some super cool sunglasses! I though I'd be able to make my own version of them and I did! I wanted to share this with you because it was really easy and fun. It is super simple and takes very little time. This would make a fun gift for someone or just a way to spruce up some old sunnies. Let's get started!

What You'll Need

- An old pair of sunglasses with frames thick enough to glue thing onto.
- Assorted flower buttons or charms
- Hot glue

Directions

Step One: Apply the hot glue the back of the flower. Put enough so that it'll stick but be sure that you
won't have any glue peeking out the sides.
Step Two: Place the flower on the rim of the glasses wherever you please. Try to have any idea of what you want it to look like before hand so you aren't randomly glueing things on.
Step Three: After putting on your flowers you can add other things like rhinestones. I used little bead that look like pearls to finish the frames off.

I hope you guys enjoyed this fun craft! Let me know if you try it out and how it came out. Comment down below if you'd like to see some more DIY projects because I have a few more ideas!

Happy Easter!

Well this has been long overdue! I haven't posted on my blog in such a long time which I definitely am sad about. I missed getting to interact with the people that read my posts and creating new material for them! My life just got really hectic for me and I needed to step back before I imploded! Luckily, I am on Spring Break right now so I can relax and hopefully ease back into a routine that includes working on my blog! Anyways, I don't want to bore you all with just a "Hello! I'm back!" message so I threw together this cute spring-y outfit that would he so cute for Easter. I am not really big on Easter and what not, (I just use it as an excuse to eat candy and dress extra girly ;) but in case any of you are looking for some last minute inspiration hopefully I can help!

I definitely drew some inspiration for this outfit from the weather! At least where I live, it's starting to get nice and warm out. I also love the summery colors that everyone's rocking these days and my favorite combo is a orange-red with turquoise. I kept the jewelry simple and delicate. Isn't that bunny ring just so cute! The dress is very casual in style but can also be dressed up. The light pink color looks great on everyone and pleats are so feminine and trendy right now. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Mad Hatter

I always thought that wearing hats was such a big deal. Like it was one of those fashion risks that you weren't sure would pay off or not. Especially at school, I thought that it might be a bit too bold. I had waded into the pool with slouchy beret style hats a few years back, but I always adored the look of a real  hat. One of my friends wears hats quite often to school and I have realized it is not that strange! However if you are still on the edge, try out a thick headband or a big bow to get started.
Many people would say they use hats as an shield to a bad hair day. If you were to ask me, I think it is very important your hair goes somewhat with your head piece. I would never really just throw a hat on a walk out the door. My best advice to deciding what kind of hair goes with your hat isn't very straightforward but will pay off. Start off before doing anything, like heat styling etcetera, to your hair and just put the hat on. Survey how it looks and then go from there. Find if you prefer straight locks or curls and waves. But my biggest advice is make it manageable. I normally find it necessary to have to readjust my hair after awhile of wearing a hat. So, if you have that issue in common with me, make sure the hair style you are sporting allows for a quick, as I would call it, 'phloof'-ing to liven up limp pieces.
Another fun play of the standard hat is something like a "hat on a stick." Really only acceptable for a party in my opinion, you can find little bitty hats with other fun add on's attached to a head band at lots of stores. I think it would be really fun to DIY one with friends for some sort of costume party!
Right now I love big floppy brimmed hats! Even though they remind me of summer somewhat, the burnt orange, black and navy shades scream winter. What is your favorite type of hat? How do you like to wear it? Let me know in the comments below!

Ring Me Up

If my obsession with rings isn't already made clear, here is just another post of some of my favorite rings. Including my other obvious obsession with coral! I love just looking down at my hands and seeing rings on them, anyone else with me on that one? They just add such a great touch to any outfit. You can go bold with a fun cocktail ring or go a bit more understated with some simple stack rings. I definitely prefer gold over silver, but choose your favorite metal and stick with it when putting together and outfit. Mixing a silver cocktail ring with gold bands in the same look can end up badly.

Going off of the picture in the top left corner I'll let you know where all my rings are from. And here's a little secret! See the last image in the bottom right will the green hand! That's from my jewelry organization for my rings! I also featured the same hand, in a slightly different color from Urban Outfitters, mine's from Home Goods, in my Organizing Jewelry post!
On my pointer finger, the lightest color ring, and on my ring finger, the darkest color ring, are from H&M. All of the gold stack rings came in a set from H&M as well. On my middle finger, the really long ring, is from Forever 21. Which one is your favorite? Personally, I love the darker H&M one because it has a great blue veining through it which make it look like a real stone!

Also, my nail polish color is Ballet Slippers by Essie. This color is so gorgeous! I love light, off white colors, especially pale pink. Even though it's still winter I am still loving this color. And if you didn't notice, I added a fun little extra to the site's sidebar, Nail of the Day! As of right now, it shows this polish in an image including it's brand and name, however every time I change up my nails or find a new favorite I'll be sure to update it!
I also added a  Related Post widget so you can see other posts of mine that might interest you and a Share Button widget so you can spread the word about S&R! Let me know if you do!
